Together with its partner Sasejo Biogas, Biofrigas recently completed a tour of northern Sweden to meet potential customers and discuss developments in the Swedish biogas market. The week was characterised by strong engagement, many rewarding meetings, and constructive discussions about the future of biogas solutions.
One clear takeaway from these conversations was that the market is undergoing a significant transition. Demand for compressed biogas (CBG) is declining, while the need for liquefied biogas (LBG) is increasing. This shift is being driven in part by growing demand from heavy transport and other sectors where electrification is either difficult or costly to implement.
For many biogas producers, this development creates new business opportunities. At the same time, it also requires investments and technical solutions that are adapted to changing market conditions.
Biofrigas provides technology for the upgrading, polishing and liquefaction of biogas, enabling both existing and new producers to manufacture liquefied biogas and participate in the growing LBG market. Through its collaboration with Sasejo Biogas, customers can be offered a comprehensive solution that combines technical expertise with commercial support.
"Biogas producers are looking for solutions that enable them to transition from CBG to LBG in a commercially sustainable way. Together with Sasejo, we can offer a complete solution that addresses that need,” says Erik Fromell, CEO of Biofrigas.
Sasejo Biogas is also witnessing a clear shift in the market and a growing interest in liquefied biogas.
"We are seeing strong interest across the market and believe that, together with Biofrigas, we can help increase the availability of liquefied biogas at a much faster pace,” says Stefan Dufva, CEO of Sasejo Biogas.
The tour not only provided valuable insights into market developments, but also confirmed the strong interest in small-scale production of liquefied biogas. For Biofrigas, this means continuing to strengthen its market presence and deepen its dialogue with stakeholders who want to play an active role in the ongoing energy transition.
