During Energigas Sverige’s programme at their Gasdagarna conference, the focus was on geopolitics and gas supply. The conclusion was clear: a more uncertain global situation increases the need for robust, local and fossil-free energy solutions.
The global gas market is increasingly affected by geopolitical instability. Risks linked to transport routes such as the Strait of Hormuz and the continued phase-out of Russian gas are creating uncertainty regarding LNG supplies, price levels and availability. For Europe, this means a more volatile market, where competition for energy resources is intensifying.
Against this backdrop, local production of energy gas is becoming increasingly important.
– We are seeing a clear shift where energy security now carries as much weight as climate benefits. Locally produced biogas can play a crucial role in reducing the vulnerability of the energy system, says Erik Fromell, CEO of Biofrigas.
Biofriga’s biogas upgrading technology enables cost-effective production close to the raw material – for example, at farm level – thereby creating a more resilient energy system. At the same time, local production provides a more stable price environment and reduced exposure to global fluctuations.
For industry, which faces the risk of rising energy costs in an increasingly volatile market, access to local and predictable gas becomes a key competitive advantage.
– Current developments confirm the relevance of our offering. We are not only contributing to the transition, but also to a more robust and self-sufficient energy system, Erik continues.
In summary, the discussions show that the role of biogas is expanding – from a climate solution to a key component of energy security and industrial stability in Europe.
