The European Union extends the tax exemption for biofuels in Sweden

The European Commission has approved an extension of Sweden’s ability to exempt pure and high-blend biofuels from tax until the end of 2032. The decision is intended to promote sustainable transport and reduce emissions, as well as provide certainty for producers and users ahead of the current authorisation expiring in 2026.

“I am pleased that the European Commission’s decision will facilitate Sweden’s ongoing work to transition to more sustainable transport and reduce dependence on fossil fuels,” says Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson.
