CEO’s comments: Why Biofrigas works with standardised facilities

Biofriga’s CEO, Erik Fromell, comments on the company’s strategy of working with standardised plant sizes.

As interest in liquid biogas grows, we are often asked how we design our plants and why we have chosen to work with standard sizes.

Standardisation creates efficiency and scalability

Biofrigas has chosen to work with standardised plants in sizes of 10 and 20 GWh respectively. The rationale is that standardisation creates both lower investment costs for customers and better conditions for us to grow and deliver more plants over time.

By working with repeatable solutions, development costs can be shared across multiple projects, which contributes to lower investment costs, shorter delivery times and simpler operation and maintenance. It also enables us to scale up our operations as the market for liquid biogas develops.

Every project has unique conditions

At the same time, standardisation means that not all projects always fit exactly into the defined sizes. Meanwhile, production volume is just one of several factors influencing the choice of solution. The ability to scale up production, geographical location and logistics solutions are examples of factors that are also taken into account in each individual project.

Against this backdrop, we work with our customers on a step-by-step basis. A letter of intent is used to assess the project’s viability before any investment decisions are made. This is a natural part of our business process and aims to ensure that every project is sustainable in the long term for both the customer and the company.

The strategy remains unchanged

The strategy of standardised solutions remains unchanged and forms an important part of Biofrigas’ long-term work as the market for liquid biogas develops.
